I am an attorney in the Washington DC area, with a Doctor of Law in the US, attended the master program at the National School of Administration of Việt Nam, and graduated from Sài Gòn University Law School. I aso studied philosophy at the School of Letters in Sài Gòn. . I have worked as an anti-trust attorney for Federal Trade Commission and a litigator for a fortune-100 telecom company in Washington DC. I have taught law courses for legal professionals in Việt Nam and still counsel VN government agencies on legal matters. I have founded and managed businesses for me and my family, both law and non-law. I have published many articles on national newspapers and radio stations in Việt Nam. In 1989 I was one of the founding members of US-VN Trade Council, working to re-establish US-VN relationship. Since the early 90's, I have established and managed VNFORUM and VNBIZ forum on VN-related matters; these forums are the subject of a PhD thesis by Dr. Caroline Valverde at UC-Berkeley and her book Transnationalizing Viet Nam. I translate poetry and my translation of "A Request at Đồng Lộc Cemetery" is now engraved on a stone memorial at Đồng Lộc National Shrine in VN. I study and teach the Bible and Buddhism. In 2009 I founded and still manage dotchuoinon.com on positive thinking and two other blogs on Buddhism. In 2015 a group of friends and I founded website CVD - Conversations on Vietnam Development (cvdvn.net). I study the art of leadership with many friends who are religious, business and government leaders from many countries. Exxon Mobil Corp’s Blue Whale gas project, Vietnam’s biggest, could start in November, Vietnam Television (VTV) reported on Tuesday.

The Blue Whale field has an estimated 150 billion cubic metres of reserves. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told Exxon Mobil on Tuesday he hoped to have the project starting officially at an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November when U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. government officials are expected to attend, state-run VTV reported.

TOKYO: Japan’s defence ministry on Thursday (Aug 31) sought US$160 million in a record budget request to develop swift, longer-range missiles to extend its military punch in East Asia, countering growing Chinese strength and an increasing North Korean threat.

BEIJING — China’s foreign minister said Wednesday he hopes India can “learn lessons” from a recently resolved border standoff and avoid such occurrences in the future, as the leaders of the two Asian giants prepare to meet next week for a summit in southeastern China.

Wang Yi’s remarks came after the countries agreed Monday to pull back their troops from a disputed Himalayan plateau where China, India and Bhutan meet.

“We’re hoping that their side will learn lessons from this incident and prevent some of the things from happening again. MOET has shown its strong determination to teach swimming to all general school students.

Nguyen Duc Huu, deputy director of MOET’s primary education department, citing figures to show that the number of drowning deaths is on the rise, said it is necessary to teach swimming as an official subject not only at primary schools but at secondary schools, high schools, junior colleges and universities.

While the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has said that adding swimming to the official curricula is necessary, parents are protesting the plan, saying that this would burden students.

Ngu Duy Anh, another senior official of MOET, said the teaching would also help them develop both physically and mentally.

The United States government has handed over a center that focuses on peacekeeping missions by the Vietnamese military, marking the two nations’ cooperation in the preservation of peace.A dedication ceremony was organized in Hanoi on Monday to mark the transfer of the peacekeeping training center from U.S. ownership to Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense.

A company in Ho Chi Minh City has raised serious concerns after being caught burying a large amount of untreated garbage without permission from authorities.A recent probe by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper has revealed that Tam Sinh Nghia Investment Development JSC has been burying solid waste in an area within the Phuoc Hiep waste treatment complex in Cu Chi District, about 100 meters away from the company’s headquarters. A taste of Cambodia in Saigon

Its official name is Le Hong Phong Market, but for decades people have been calling this market in HCM City’s District 10 “Cambodian Market” simply because it sells certain products from Cambodia.

Cambodian Market has expanded with locals getting in on the act, but its true Cambodian soul is still preserved by around 15 stores run by the children and grandchildren of the families that fled Cambodia more than 40 years ago.

After turning into alley 374/51 on Le Hong Phong Street, it is easy to find the market since Cambodian colours can be seen all over the place.

The market dates back to the 1970s when Vietnamese-Cambodians were forced to flee Cambodia due to civil war. They returned to Viet Nam and set up the market together, according to a vendor named Tu Xe.

These days, Cambodian Market has expanded with locals getting in on the act, but its true Cambodian soul is still preserved by around 15 stores run by the children and grandchildren of the families that fled Cambodia more than 40 years ago.
