Japan is a powerful empire since World War II. They can produce warships, planes, tanks, etc.
Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, ……. They all once “studied abroad” in Japan…. This is one of the strongest countries in Asia.
Korea is a beloved ally of the US. They are economically protected, in terms of national security and receive technology transfer. The position of Korea and Japan is very difficult to change. They are still the leading countries in technology alongside the US, EU, Russia, and China.
China has strong potential since the Kuomintang period, then received technology transfer support from the URSS,US and Europe. China’s human potential is huge, more than 1.4 billion people, there must be many talented people. Although Taiwan is an ally of USA .but Taiwan will also “support” China, because this “country” is actually “China” number 2.
Vietnam has nothing. we stand alone and we are neutral. But today we have caught up with the countries in Southeast Asia. it’s not bad. I think Vietnam is developing quite well. The Vietnamese government may not be as good as the Singapore government, but keeping the country peaceful and stable is a prerequisite for economic development. War has a clear impact on development, But it will no longer be a valid reason in the next 50-70 years. And ,Latecomers are always at a disadvantage compared to the leading countries.
Human life is clearly limited (about 60 years), but a country’s life is still very much ahead (thousands, millions of years,….). In the end, we will be able to do everything. whatever you can do, we can do the same. it’s just that we are walking on the same path you have walked. We go slow because our resources are small, and you go faster than us because you are richer.
this is a must for countries that want to be self-reliant. No one can skip the stages, you can’t skip the teenage step to become an adult.
Our goal is technological autonomy, not competing for rankings with countries, rankings are meaningless to us. Whether fast or slow, the goal of partial industrial and technological autonomy will always be realized sooner or later.
