UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. refugee chief sharply criticized the Security Council and world leaders Thursday for failing to prevent and resolve conflicts that have displaced nearly 66 million people around the world.

GENEVA, Nov 3 (Reuters) – An estimated 10 million people worldwide are stateless, including three million officially, a status that deprives them of an identity, rights, and often jobs, the United Nations refugee agency said on Friday.

Muslim Rohingyas in Buddhist-majority Myanmar form the world’s biggest stateless minority, with some 600,000 having fled violence and repression since late August and taken refuge in Bangladesh, it said.

Viet Nam News QUẢNG NGÃI — Quảng Ngãi Province People’s Committee, on Friday, urged the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DoNRE) to ask Việt Nam Maritime Safety – North (VMS – North) to stop the dumping of 62,000cu.m of waste mud near Mỹ Khê Beach.

When UN climate negotiators meet for summit talks this month, there will be a new figure on the table: 3C.

Until now, global efforts such as the Paris climate agreement have tried to limit global warming to 2C above pre-industrial levels. However, with latest projections pointing to an increase of 3.2C by 2100, these goals seem to be slipping out of reach.

“[We] still find ourselves in a situation where we are not doing nearly enough to save hundreds of millions of people from a miserable future,” said Erik Solheim, the UN environment chief, ahead of the upcoming Bonn conference.

Phụ nữ và nước. Liên quan ở điểm nào? Đúng là, tất cả chúng ta cần có nước để tồn tại, nhưng nước sạch đối với phụ nữ có nhiều ý nghĩa hơn là nước chỉ để uống, nấu nướng và tưới tiêu.

Tính đến năm 2015, 68% dân số thế giới có cơ hội tiếp cận với các thiết bị vệ sinh cải tiến, nhà vệ sinh tự hoại hay nhà cầu có nắp che, cao hơn 14% so với năm 1990. Tuy nhiên 2.4 triệu người vẫn chưa có nhà vệ sinh hoặc hố xí.

Thiếu hệ thống vệ sinh sạch sẽ ảnh hưởng đến phụ nữ nhiều hơn là nam giới. Phụ nữ thường phải đảm nhận vai trò tích đủ nước dùng cho sinh hoạt hằng ngày của gia đình. Ngay cả khi tình hình đã được cải thiện hơn, phụ nữ vẫn thường phải di chuyển xa để lấy nước cho gia đình. 2.1 triệu người, khoảng 30% dân số thế giới, vẫn chưa có nguồn nước uống sạch và 60% chưa được tiếp cận hệ thống vệ sinh an toàn.
