VietNamNet Bridge – Despite sharp enrollment cuts, the number of teachers trained every year is still far higher than demand, as the Ministry of Education & Training (MOET) lacks control over hiring at the local level.

According to MOET, there are 1.1 million preschool and general school teachers. This includes 400,000 primary school and 140,000 high school teachers.
