Vietnam launches single window system to cut customs clearance time by 80%

The General Department of Vietnam Customs launched Tuesday a single window mechanism intended to help businesses facilitate customs clearance and integrated it with a similar system among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

National one-stop-shop customs mechanism launched

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung launched the implementation of the national one-stop-shop customs mechanism and the technical connectivity with the ASEAN mechanism on September 8.

Also attending the event were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh, among others.

Deputy PM Ninh, who is Head of the National Steering Committee on ASEAN and National One-stop-shop (OSS) Customs Mechanisms, said that the move is a turning-point in accelerating administrative reform towards an e-government.

Vietnam has enacted a number of synchronous measures to speed up administrative reforms, shorten the time required and reduce costs for procedures so as to facilitate business and investment activities among enterprises and individuals.
