Vietnam grants amnesty to over 2,400 inmates, including 16 foreigners, on National Day

State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed a decision to parole 2,434 prisoners, including 16 foreign nationals, on the coming Vietnam’s National Day, September 2.

The 16 foreign inmates to be released include four Chinese, three American, two Cambodian, two Malaysian, and one from each of Canada, France, Australia, Nigeria, and Laos, according to the decision issued by the Presidential Office at a press conference on Wednesday.

Vietnam to free 18,539 prisoners in National Day amnesty

Vietnam will release 18,539 prison inmates, including 34 foreign nationals, as part of this year’s National Day amnesty.
The State President Office announced in a press conference Friday the inmates will be released in batches starting from Monday ahead of the 70th National Day anniversary, which falls on September 2.
