Vietnam already supports five operating commercial airlines and a sixth is on the way. That’s because so many of the country’s newly minted middle class is literally going places.

Vietnam’s civil aviation authority estimates air passenger traffic will reach 131 million by 2020 following average growth of 16% last year and this year. By 2030, the authority expects 280 million civilian air trips per year.

Vietnam considers Swedish loans to build largest airport

The Hanoitimes – A Swedish state-owned entity proposed a commercial loan of over US$1 billion for the construction of Long Thanh airport, the would-be largest of its kind in Vietnam.

Vietnam is considering Sweden’s loans to build Long Thanh International Airport and develop the air traffic control activities, according to Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Vu Dai Thang.

Long Thanh International Airport is in need of huge investment capital, for which financial support from other countries, including Vietnam’s development partners such as Sweden, is very important, said Thang at a conference held last week discussing the financial mechanism for Long Thanh airport. The Hanoitimes – The total investment capital of the project is estimated at VND100 trillion (US$4.3 billion).

The Chinese government has provided non-refundable aid for Vietnam worth over VND32 billion (US$1.37 million) to conduct a survey and a master plan for the Lao Cai – Hai Phong – Hanoi railway project connecting with China, according to the Ministry of Transport (MoT).

That is surely a good way to get money from men with hormone at the level of teenager. It embarrasses both Vietnamese women and men. And looks like the driving force behind all this is a woman too. Is she a real woman, or a sick male chauvinist in disguise? Or she is simply sick by obsession with money making? Wow, money, mony, money! Such a great driving force of human psyche!

Da Nang dismissed environmental concerns to build a new port

Vietnam’s central city Da Nang has dismissed environmental concerns raised by a Singaporean consultant and is pushing ahead with plans to build a new port.

At a meeting with voters on Tuesday, city Chairman Huynh Duc Tho confirmed that the Lien Chieu Port would be built in Da Nang Bay.

The 220-hectare, VND32.86 trillion ($1.42 billion) port, expected to spearhead Da Nang’s logistics development, will be built below Hai Van Pass in central Vietnam.

Lien Chieu will function as a gateway for cargo while Tien Sa, currently the only port in the city, will become a tourism port.

Expressways that burn up the road between Hanoi and northern provinces

Nine major expressways that cost VND128 trillion ($5.5 billion) have considerably sped up connections between Hanoi and northern localities.

A VND6.7 trillion ($289.6 million) expansion project to upgrade the Phap Van-Cau Gie expressway, the southern gateway to Hanoi, from four to six lanes was completed late last year and put into operation earlier this year.

The Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway, which first opened in 2002, runs more than 32 kilometers (20 miles) to the south of Hanoi and links up with another expressway to the nearby Ninh Binh Province. The six-lane expressway is expected to cater to 60,000 vehicles per day and daily revenue from toll fees is estimated at more than VND2 billion ($86,400). Hanoi first metro line starts 20-day trial run

Hanoi’s first metro line, the Cat Linh-Ha Dong route, has begun a 20-day commercial operation run for inspection purposes.

The trial will check all aspects or the line’s operations, from functioning stations with staff on duty at operation rooms and ticket booths. Electronic signs and loudspeakers are turned on to instruct metro commuters. Six to nine trains will operate on the route.

The first metro line runs 13 kilometers from Cat Linh Station in downtown Dong Da District to the Yen Nghia Station in the southwestern Ha Dong District.

The metro had made its first trial run in September last year, but that test was supervised by Chinese experts from the Shenzhen Metro Company.

The ongoing commercial trial will be supervised by Vietnamese employees from state-owned Hanoi Metro Company Limited.

The 20-day period will verify system safety and operational capacity of all employees, which is a mandatory step in the inspection process, said a representative from the Chinese general contractor.

It has been reported several times that work on the line is 99 percent complete. The 1 percent remaining work is mainly outlook finishing.

A 66-year-old widow collects very moderate toll fees for a one-km path she and her husband built on their own six years ago.

They call her Mrs. BOT, but as an endearment, not a derogatory epithet. The term, build-own-transfer, otherwise carries the connotation of many expensive toll fee stations along Vietnamese roads.

(NLĐO)- Cạnh tranh trong hàng không là cần thiết để tránh thế độc quyền, song cạnh tranh quá mức, cạnh tranh không lành mạnh thì không hay và gây ra nhiều hệ quả, trong đó có vấn đề an toàn.

Thủ tướng Nguyễn Xuân Phúc trong một cuộc họp về hàng không mới đây nhận định thời gian qua, ngành hàng không Việt Nam đã khởi sắc với việc ra đời của các hãng hàng không mới, tạo sự cạnh tranh có lợi cho khách hàng. Tuy nhiên, Thủ tướng lưu ý một số bất cập nảy sinh có nguy cơ uy hiếp an ninh, an toàn hàng không, chất lượng dịch vụ chưa đảm bảo và bắt đầu có hiện tượng cạnh tranh không lành mạnh.
