Bye Bye, Bagram!

TTCT – Afghanistan suốt lịch sử đã là vũng lầy của rất nhiều đế quốc và siêu cường. Cuộc tháo chạy “âm thầm” của Mỹ vừa rồi chỉ là một bước tiếp theo trên hành trình đó.

Lính bên trong thành Jalalabad trông thấy bóng một kỵ mã mang quân phục Hoàng gia Anh quốc, họ vội vã mở cổng thành cho ông vào. 

Đó là ngày 13-1-1842, và toàn bộ đạo quân của tổng trấn thủ đô Kabul của Afghanistan cách đó 150km đường và một con đèo Khyber đã triệt thoái từ ngày mùng 6, đúng một tuần lễ trước. 

Họ hỏi người kỵ mã cô độc này, bác sĩ quân y William Brydon, thế còn đạo quân đâu? Ông Brydon trả lời: Tôi là đạo quân đây!

VOV.VN – Phong trào Hồi giáo Đông Turkestan (viết tắt theo tiếng Anh là ETIM) đe dọa gây bất ổn định ở Tân Cương và trên “Con đường Tơ lụa” sau khi Mỹ rút hết quân khỏi Afghanistan. ETIM là nhóm chiến binh khiến Trung Quốc lo sợ nhất.

Khi Mỹ thúc đẩy tiến trình rút quân khỏi Afghanistan, Trung Quốc lo lắng về những bất ổn mà họ sắp phải đối mặt do việc rút quân này.

Vào tháng 5/2021, sau một chuỗi các vụ nổ ở thủ đô Kabul (Afghanistan) khiến 60 người thiệt mạng, trong đó có cả các nữ sinh, người phát ngôn của Bộ Ngoại giao Trung Quốc Hoa Xuân Oánh nói rằng việc Mỹ rút quân “đột ngột” là một nhân tố dẫn tới tình trạng bạo lực này.

Bà Hoa cho rằng Mỹ cần rút quân “một cách có trách nhiệm” nhằm tránh “gây ra tình trạng hỗn loạn và khổ đau cho người dân Afghanistan”.

Người phát ngôn của Bộ Ngoại giao Trung Quốc đã không nói ra điều mà Trung Quốc e sợ nhất trước việc Mỹ rút quân khỏi Afghanistan: Điều này có thể làm hồi sinh Phong trào Hồi giáo Đông Turkestan (ETIM) cực đoan, đồng thời có thể kích thích hoạt động khủng bố ở vùng Tân Cương của Trung Quốc.

Chính quyền Mỹ tuyên bố, quân đội Mỹ và khối Tổ chức Hiệp ước Bắc Đại Tây Dương (NATO) sẽ hoàn tất việc rút quân khỏi Afghanistan vào ngày mai, 4/7/2021.

Việc rút quân Mỹ khỏi Afghanistan trên thực tế được bắt đầu từ 1/5/20021 và sẽ hoàn thành trước thời hạn 11/9/2021 do Tổng thống Mỹ Joe Biden đưa ra hồi tháng 4/2021 để tưởng nhớ vụ tấn công khủng bố năm 2001.

JALALABAD, Afghanistan: Islamic State militants, under pressure from Afghan and U.S. forces, have seized a new stronghold in Tora Bora, a mountainous area dotted with caves along Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan, officials said on Thursday.

KABUL: The death toll from a truck-bomb explosion in Kabul last week has reached more than 150 people, President Ashraf Ghani said on Tuesday (Jun 6), making it the deadliest attack in the Afghan capital since the ouster of the Taliban in 2001.

The blast occurred when a sewage truck packed with what Ghani called “military-grade” explosives detonated at the entrance to a fortified area of that city that includes foreign embassies and government buildings.

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has condemned the “cowardly” truck bomb attack that ripped through the heart of Kabul’s diplomatic district, killing at least 90 people and wounding hundreds.

The powerful explosion on Wednesday was described by officials as “one of the biggest” to have hit the Afghan capital.

KABUL: The head of Islamic State in Afghanistan, Abdul Hasib, was killed in an operation on April 27 conducted jointly by Afghan and U.S. Special Forces in the eastern province of Nangarhar, U.S. and Afghan officials said on Sunday.

Hasib, appointed last year after his predecessor Hafiz Saeed Khan died in a U.S. drone strike, is believed to have ordered a series of high profile attacks including one in March 8 on the main military hospital in Kabul, a statement said.

Last month, a Pentagon spokesman said Hasib had probably been killed during the raid by U.S. and Afghan special forces in Nangarhar during which two U.S. army Rangers were killed, but prior to Sunday’s announcement there had been no confirmation. United States Drops ‘Mother of All Bombs’ On ISIS in Afghanistan

To blow up an Islamic State tunnel complex in eastern Afghanistan, the United States has dropped one of its most powerful non-nuclear bombs — the Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb, or MOAB, a 21,000-pound munition packing an explosive punch larger than almost anything else in the U.S. conventional arsenal.

According to the Defense Department, local Islamic State fighters had bolstered their subterranean defenses in the province of Nangarhar, Afghanistan. The MOAB, or GBU-43, was designed as a bunker buster, to allow U.S. forces to penetrate underground nuclear facilities like those in Iran — but made its debut in a more rustic setting. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Kabul military hospital by gunmen disguised as doctors who entered the facility and battled security forces for hours.

At least 38 people died and dozens more were injured, the hospital said.

The attack began with a suicide bombing at the rear of the hospital complex in the Afghan capital. Officials said at least three gunmen dressed as medical staff then entered the 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan facility and took up positions on the upper floors. KABUL, Afghanistan — The NATO mission in Afghanistan has opened a preliminary investigation into claims that more than 20 civilians were killed in recent American airstrikes in the southern province of Helmand, military officials said Saturday.

Elders from the Sangin district, the scene of heavy fighting in recent weeks, with the Taliban blowing up Afghan Army posts there, have said that multiple American airstrikes early Friday morning killed at least 22 civilians, including several women and children.

Brig. Gen. Charles H. Cleveland, a spokesman for the American-led NATO mission, insisted that the military command had seen no conclusive evidence that civilians were killed in the airstrikes, but said that “a formal review to determine the credibility of the claims” had been opened. The investigation team involved NATO officers outside the American command to ensure impartiality, he added.
