MANILA – A self-confessed assassin who testified to being in a “death squad” under Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will soon file a case at the International Criminal Court accusing the president of crimes against humanity, his lawyer said Tuesday.

More than 8,000 people have died since Duterte took office in June and unleashed a bloody war on drugs, a third in raids and sting operations by police who say they acted in self-defense.

Duterte and the police have denied links to the other killings, many of which rights groups say bear the same hallmarks as hundreds of suspicious deaths of criminals in Davao City during the 22 years Duterte was its mayor. HANOI: Vietnam police seized more than 100 kilogrammes of rhino horn smuggled into the country in suitcases from Kenya on Tuesday (Mar 14), the latest illegal haul in the wildlife trafficking hub.

Vietnam is a hot market for rhino horn, believed to have medicinal properties and is in high demand among the communist nation’s growing middle class.

Trump plans to host China’s Xi in April at Florida resort: report

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to host Chinese President Xi Jinping at a two-day summit next month at his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort, U.S. online media outlet Axios reported Monday, citing officials familiar with the plans.

The two-day meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 6-7, the U.S. media outlet reported.

Reuters has not verified the Axios story and does not vouch for its accuracy. Representatives of the White House and for Xi could not be immediately reached for comment.

The planned summit would follow a string of other recent U.S-China meetings and conversations seeking to reaffirm ties following months of strong rhetoric from Trump.

State Department staffers have been instructed to seek cuts in excess of 50 percent in U.S. funding for U.N. programs, signaling an unprecedented retreat by President Donald Trump’s administration from international operations that keep the peace, provide vaccines for children, monitor rogue nuclear weapons programs, and promote peace talks from Syria to Yemen, according to three sources.

The push for such draconian measures comes as the White House is scheduled on Thursday to release its 2018 budget proposal, which is expected to include cuts of up to 37 percent for spending on the State Department, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and other foreign assistance programs, including the U.N., in next year’s budget. Qua hàng trăm năm hình thành và phát triển, hai công trình tôn giáo này đang đứng trước nguy cơ phải nhường chỗ cho khu đô thị mới Thủ Thiêm.

Chúng tôi đã có điều kiện tham quan đập thủy điện Xayaburi. Buổi tham quan dựa trên lời của Chính phủ Lào tại “Diễn đàn khu vực các bên liên quan về Nghiên cứu hội đồng và đập thủy điện Pak Beng”, vào cuối tháng 2 tại Luang Pra Bang. Người Đô Thị ghi nhận những hình ảnh về con đập mà cho đến nay vẫn còn gây nhiều tranh cãi trong cộng đồng các nước khu vực lẫn quốc tế.
