Nguy cơ “chìm” của những chợ nổi đình đám như chợ Cái Bè (Tiền Giang), Cái Răng, Phong Điền (Cần Thơ), Ngã Bảy Phụng Hiệp (Hậu Giang), Trà Ôn (Vĩnh Long), Ngã Năm (Sóc Trăng), Long Xuyên, Châu Đốc (An Giang), Cà Mau, Năm Căn (Cà Mau), Vĩnh Thuận (Kiên Giang)… lại hiển hiện ngay giữa cái thời mà xu hướng tìm về nguồn tài nguyên bản địa để “khởi nghiệp” và phát triển các mô hình sản xuất – kinh doanh, trong bối cảnh tự nhiên “biến đổi khí hậu” và xã hội “cách mạng công nghiệp 4.0” đang trỗi dậy

Despite being in its early stages of development, Vietnam’s logistics sector remains on the radar of foreign investors thanks to the country’s skilled workforce, relatively low costs, and rapid e-commerce development.

VietNamNet Bridge – Setting up a logistics joint venture with Minh Phuong, Samsung has shown that it wants to jump into a new business field in Vietnam. But the move may trigger a new war in the domestic logistics market.

For the majority of Vietnamese, Samsung means smartphone, TV and washing machine. However, the South Korean investor has been taking steps towards the logistics markets.

Before joining hands with Minh Phuong, Samsung teamed up with ALS, also a logistics company, to manage the goods terminal at Noi Bai Airport, one of the two largest airports in Vietnam.

Samsung’s involvement in the management at the goods terminal at Noi Bai helps Samsung ensure delivery time and smooth operation of the supply chain. Noi Bai is the biggest export portal for Samsung’s electronic exports manufactured at its two factories in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen.

However, the cooperation with Minh Phuong is another story. The owner of the company was once praised by Bloomberg as the ‘logistics Queen’ of Vietnam. To take part in the domestic logistics market, where road transport makes up 65 percent of the market share, joining hands with Minh Phuong was the most efficient choice. Giving up a job as a technical official for a television company in HCMC, Tran Tue Man decided to provide a delivery service.

Man is optimistic about the new business after six months of operation. The business he set up has been recruiting new workers as the business is scaling up.

“The fast delivery service market has become very competitive, but it is still a ‘blue ocean’ with great potential,” the founder of ‘Giao hang gia re’ (low-cost delivery) said.

“Many online shops have arisen,” he explained, adding that the number of orders his business receives has increased by 30-50 percent a month.

However, he said 30-50 percent is still a modest growth rate. “If my sale and marketing team expands, a 100-300 percent growth rate will be within reach,” he said.

Many businesses, from startups to big express delivery firms, have jumped into the market of fast delivery services for online shops.

Man said his company plans to launch an app of its own in September. To compete with other delivery services, his company also is providing package services, such as marketing for online shops.
